sorry to post in this thread only to sound bitter... but like I'm sorry "electronic" is such a beyond nebulous term it's like "world" music but then again you already did "regional music" which I'm equally aghast about and deliberately avoided as such so you know what I'll just see myself out
sorry I'm just a party pooper
tbph I don't understand this game at all

Fuck this will be hard. I might make two distinct lists for this forum. One for more avant garde electronic music. And one for more melodic, relaxing music.

Might I suggest postponing this electronic music competition until the one that's already going on (BETH) wraps up? We could do a different genre next instead.
Also, we have two genre olympics threads currently active already. That's on top of BETH and the get to know a top 10 project. People only have so much bandwidth to listen to albums for BEA projects. I would suggest we cap the number of open genre olympics threads at two at a time so that it doesn't get too overwhelming. _________________ Join us in the canon game / Add me on RYM

That's perfectly cool. I think a good chunk of users have mentioned the same concerns. I think some have enjoyed talking about it and voting for it.
It actually was sparked by a game started in the non-game section concerning decades. Someone mentioned something about ranking albums like Gold, Silver, and Bronze and then someone was like yeah, I'd totally play that game... so it started.
Some like participating and some don't. Some are perfectly fine going into a record shop and looking through the Jazz section or Electronic section of a record store and not shitting themselves because they don't have a hard-bop or a trance section and apparently some people do. It's actually a really simple concept, I'm not sure what the fuss is about. It's a discussion and game about parent genre's and what are the best albums in that parent genre, regardless of what subgenre it belongs in. It'd be a little like, well I can't join BEA because the concept of an album is too nebulous, there's so much good music not in an album format.
The reason I'm doing it is to learn more about genre's and because this site doesn't have a genre filter. There are entire parent genre's I've spent little time in. Country or Jazz Music - sure I know some country and jazz music, but I don't really know A LOT about it and having 10 people give 10 album recs... well that's useful to me.
It seems odd that the Jazz thread didn't have any of these kinds of problems yet any other genre... it blows people's minds.
Anyway - I'm rambling. I suppose if people stop playing I'll stop posting.

Good points - we can delete this thread.
I suppose I thought giving each thread 2 weeks was enough... especially since the concept was to review roughly 20 genre's. That'd take almost a year if we did two weeks each. The Jazz thread has been open for a month and it will be open until the end of May.
But perhaps I'll just stop doing this altogether since the value isn't there, yet takes a lot of my time.

That'd be perfectly fine. People can submit 45084595495894 albums to this thread.
If you want to play the game, you'd then submit a separate thing for your top 10.

I think I can supply a top ten for this one, I just don't understand what Electronic Music means, I mean do electric guitars count? cuz that would be pretty dumb imo...
