I wouldn't say theres one particular album or artist, but ways I sense a chart will be good are:
1. any of my top 10 or even 20 in their top 10
2. one of my top 25 artists as their #1 (bonus for more than 1 in top 10)
3. nonconventional picks (of bands I like - you dont get style points for being obscure) that are good, underrated
4. albums I've recently been into among the first few pages
5. notes / description / thought / time / effort

It's definitely not as bad. But sorry, I still don't like it. I'd prefer that everyone's charts were simply ranked lists of their genuine favorites, with no self-imposed restrictions.
Kidding! Obviously you wouldn't hate one and like the other. But if I didn't have some kind of restriction 20% of my chart would be Coltrane, Mingus and Miles, and that's kind of boring, even to me.

I still like to stick to the one album per artist rule because it allows me to give a better view on my musical tastes.
I try to solve the problem by sticking to the one artist per album rule but to mention in the comments also the other albums I like of that artist. The problem with that is that these other albums don’t get any rank points that way.
But I don’t stick to that rule in my decade and year charts.
