Anyways... that song is great and so is the rest of the album. Shades of Broadcast and a little of Brainiac are in there, so this is pretty much made for me. I'm glad I picked this over one of their later albums, which sounded much different. Electronic zaniness mixed with a rock sensibility.

Those sample links were cool. The album was pretty good as well....but what album did you choose for Zep to listen to?
Really good 90s alt-rock with solid instrumentals and vocals. As RYM notes, there are grunge and soul influences. Enjoyable all the way through, but not much stuck out to me. Perhaps most memorable for its controversial album cover. 3.5/5.

2. Check out Table Scraps. Apparently this is where RJD2 started out.

Beautiful album. He did an excellent job of taking that classic Hitsville U.S.A. sound, and through it, funneling warped and abstract compositions. And the editing...the way every track bleeds into the next, is a fantastic touch. It sort of foreshadows DSOTM in that respect, though I doubt Gaye or his engineer used the chop-and-splice technique that Alan Parsons used. Still, it's very dreamy, very dramatic. Lyrically, I'm in strong agreement with Gaye's messages, especially "Mercy, Mercy Me". Really, it should prove difficult for anyone to deny those words, when laid against such stunningly beautiful music. I knew the song beforehand, though I've rarely heard it for years; and listening to it now over and over, with headphones, it's nothing short of fine art.
I'm also fascinated by the little elements to this album that were happy accidents, such as Gaye's lead vocal takes for "What's Going On" being mixed together, or the horn riff that opens that song. Gaye had great vision to retain these chance elements, sort of similar to Van Morrison letting his session musicians play whatever they wanted on Astral Weeks. This album also came very close to never even seeing release, and only did because Motown staff took the initiative to release the title track behind Berry Gordy's back. Chance favored it, the single went to #2, and Gaye cut the rest of the album. I'm see why chance didn't favor You're The Man...I'll be playing that later today, and I'm hoping that I find it to be a worthy follow-up to What's Going On, which I don't really feel about Let's Get It On.

I am grateful that you passed up what might have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make me listen to souljaboytellem.com in full. Same goes for Avril Lavigne and Evanescence. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM

I was laughing with glee as I was looking through that list. But, my laughter turned to crying, and so I stayed my hand. 😨
So I actually got this album done earlier in the week. I just had work as well as games to play through like the Untitled Goose Game which is GOTY in a sincere but as well as a jokey kind. But I also needed a second listen due to how on the first listen I completely adore the hell out of this record. And when I gave this album another listen, yeah my opinion is gonna continue. Now I'd argue that this might fall in favor since I still need to listen to the rest of New Order albums especially there 80's output. But each song just surprisingly hit me so well from the guitar tones, the synth tones, the vocals especially when the female comes in and not only compliments the main singer but adds more flavor. There is more I could talk about this album like the lyrics and how the sounds create this vibe where I want to live in. But I do want to save that for later. But yeah this is an album to add upon the growing list of not only grateful for playing this game but also join the club of albums I believe that are a 100.

A great compilation of a group that never really was. Copywrite is a great MC, and the other two are serviceable, and of course RJD2 has some great beats on these songs. I never knew they were from Columbus, OH. Always good to hear some more Midwest hip hop. It kind of lives in it's own space, with influences from both coasts being present. I think underground hip hop hit it's peak somewhere between 1997 to 2002.
Luigii, I have to give you Weathered, because I'm the resident Creed expert.
