I only got around to hearing Schlagenheim for the first time yesterday. Hadn't realized all the love it'd received until recently, and I didn't have a clue at all it was #4 on BEA's 2019 chart. Absolutely wild release... I'm still kinda in a daze after listening to it, there's a lot to process. Don't think I've ever heard vocals like that. Enjoyed it quite a bit though.
Which is lovely. String-lead ambient dream-pop, but almost with a lo-fi twist. Very warm but distant at the same time. Worth a spin. Don't think the cover does it justice at all. _________________ Doubles & Conch

A better year for music than it originally looked like it was going to be. The highs weren't very high in comparison to other years in the decade but more all-around great projects than most years as well. Surprisingly to me I have the most hip-hop releases from 2019 (tied with 2016) in my 2010s hip-hop/r&b chart. Perhaps some recency bias in there, but i found so much great hip-hop in 2019 (largely thanks to Griselda Records), even if my hip-hop AOTY is much weaker in 2019 than other years.
2020 could be a big year for music, especially in hip-hop where it's likely a lot of big names and anticipated projects drop.
Emotional Oranges continue to be far too slept on here. Great new r&b group. I know I already talked up volume one on this thread. Anyone who liked it should also enjoy volume two, which I just added to the database:
