BTW is it just me or are there a lot of people that love one MA album - either Blue Lines or Mezzanine, but think the other one is overrated

Yeah but I meant specifically these two. I really don't see many people that would love both of them.. Either they're fans of Mezzanine and think Blue Lines is overrated (eg. me), or vice versa.
That's because Mezzanine is amazing and Blue Lines is just okay

And Unfinished Sympathy is nothing special
Yeah you're one of them (us) 😁 . And I actually think Unfinished Sympathy is amazing, but the other songs just don't follow IMO

Well, Blue Lines came out when I was in college and I have a lot of memories of 3am car drives to the beach (about two hours away) with this album playing and smoking some nice things in the car on the way 😉 Blue Lines is much more than one tune, and I actually love the variety on this album.
I like both Blue Lines and Mezzanine a lot. They're pretty close on my chart and occasionally switch places with each other. I would say Mezzanine feels like a more cohesive album because every song works towards this dark atmosphere; I would say Blue Lines has much more variety, sounds less 'forced' than Mezzanine most of the time, and has aged better than Mezzanine (It's also one of the first trip-hop albums, if not the first, so it's got the influence thing going for it if you're into that). Both albums have about the same number of great songs
