I wish I found Chappel's music as interesting as the story around her and her sudden rise to fame, but I just don't. I've still voted for this song a few times in the tournament, though that was likely due to the matches it drew than really growing on the song. I donno, somewhere during the number I just sense some missed potential, more so in the composition than the lyrics.
Yeah I do think Endsong is probably the most Disintegration/Pictures of You-esque numbers on the new album, but still has that charming old-man, leisurely-paced feel while still managing to do a lot with it's more classical ideas over it's considerable running time. It wouldn't have been my top 5 in the tournament from the onset, but I donno, during 2024 perhaps we needed some epic, swirling comfort food like this. Gets the vote.

Cure's "Endsong" wins the final match of the tournament is our winner of the 2024 best song tournament! Congratulations to BEA-er II for picking this song, as well to every other lovely user who put forth nominations and participated throughout the tournament. It's a wrap, and perhaps see you all here again next year!

wasn't my first guess, wasn't my first choice, but is what it isโ and, at the end of the day, The Cure still put out an album better than it should've beenโ _________________ Doubles & Conch
