Good Time Boy

Another Richie Furay song here but sung by Dewey Martin (the drummer and 2nd Canadian in the band) and unfairly, often over looked as a musician.

Buffalo Springfield do soul. Not a track which gets a lot of airplay but itโ€™s a very solid track and Martinsโ€™ vocals are great.

Rock & Roll Woman

Like a lot of Buffalo Springfield, itโ€™s a little uneven but also contains moments that make you joyful. I love the harmonies on this Stephen Stills composition and then, towards the end, that great guitar interplay and back to the vocals.

Itโ€™s a really well constructed song and points towards later Stills compositions.

Broken Arrow

The band left one of the great songs of the 60โ€™s until the final track on the album. Broken Arrow is a gem of a song and, unusually for Buffalo Springfield is a long track, coming on at over six minutes, and is still one of Neil Youngโ€™s greatest songs.

This song hints at what Neil would become and itโ€™s the most complex track on the album taking over 100 hours to record. Was Young taking notes from the Beatles, either continuously or sub-continuously when recording this. Who knows. It certainly feels like some Beatles influences going on here

Neil wrote it after one of a number of break ups. After his return he recorded this song.

I get it if people find this song hard work but I adore it

So that's the end of the Buffalo Springfield Again entries unless anyone else has any thoughts.

Thanks for those who contributed to this thread. I appreciate you taking the time.

I'll post the next 60's album after our get together in early December

I've also helped set up a brand new 70's listening group so will also be posting albums from that decade for discussion.

Just had my music listening session for this album and a mixed reception. Most, felt that it was a good album, although rather flawed (which I would agree with) although a couple of people felt that it was not good at all.

Interesting feedback though from all.

We have selected the next album, which is

Disraeli Gears (1967) by Cream

So I'm going to set up a new thread for that album

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this album thread
