I've noticed that on the home page that the highlighted New Release album in the main scroll tends to get stuck on one upcoming album (at least it has the past couple of months), which might be a couple weeks out sometimes. Maybe it's better at generating click throughs, but I have wished for a couple months now that the highlighted New Releases album was actually released in the past week or so. Perhaps highlighting the best ranking new release on the site, or if you want to focus on discovery, rotate the lowest ranked album released in the past week or so. If nothing else, maybe there's a way to make the album it highlights on the main page to be within a week of release at most so it doesn't get stuck on an album that's being released 2 or 3 weeks down the road. Of course, there may be a different vision for that highlight than I'm seeing, so I understand if this isn't something that's viewed as needing changed.
Additionally, I only just ran into this, but it would also be nice to be able to see last months releases in the actual site section, or at least the past couple weeks, in order to override the month reset where I can't seem to easily view last week's releases from the end of June since the section has transitioned into July releases only. _________________ My overall top 100 is far from fleshed out at this point, so here are some charts I am actually proud of:

Thanks for highlighting/spotting, looks like a bug (issue with algorithm looking too far ahead). Just altered it so new releases are constrained to this week, it may have been that way before for safety in case there were no upcoming releases. It might be a few hours before it's updated on the home page due to caching and might need some more fine-tuning afterwards to get the frequency right (and to make sure the right albums are highlighted), but should be better than it was.
The suggestion about being able to browse recently released albums is a good one too. At the moment, once the month changes there's no easy way to see releases from the previous week or month, which isn't ideal. Planning to add extra tabs to the New Releases page ('Last Week' & 'Last Month') so those albums remain easy to find. It's a slightly bigger change, so it'll be part of the next site update.

I almost never go to the home page myself... Regardless though, this isn't exactly the best week to be making that change. There may be fewer notable new releases this week than any week in the history of recorded music.

Agree, this time of year is very slow on the new releases front.
