I never said that hip hop, electronic, are any non-traditional form of music wasn't "real" to me. I gave one hypothetical type of hip hop that would lay the foundation for a type of sound I might like, one that that included "performed" instruments. Actually, I don't think I even used the word "real" in any of my posts in this thread.

Again, i think the process as you describe, practicing a song multiple times reveals what works and what doesn't, is about the same, but more insular since a lot of hip-hop tracks and electronic songs created on a computer are often produced by one person. I couldn't answer that question. I don't know of any under rated rap albums, the beastie boy albums I've heard are good, Kid Rock is good as well. I think Jay-Z and Outkast are over rated...every time their music comes up in random play I'm nearly deleting them.
