Vashti Bunyan is responsible for two brilliant records, Kendrick for three. Also, there really aren't many records by anybody that I prefer to GKMC. Kendrick is a special sort of rapper who can unite fans of many genres, with an almost Nas-esque ability to convey the tragedies and triumphs of growing up in the hood, and an inventive, chameleonic way with flows and wordplay that Andre 3000 would be proud of. Even in what can quite safely be described as a major renaissance for the genre following the relative stagnation of the late-2000s, Kendrick stands as one of hip-hop's most unique, creative and genuinely affecting voices of the last few years, if not of all-time. Vashti is great and Just Another Diamond Day is a fantastic and important album, but Kendrick is already the artist of the 10s with one of the best albums ever and potential to make something even better. Going with my nom.
