What are the best and worst solo albums by the singer in a great band?

This is pretty obvious but for best I'd say John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band _________________ Nothing really matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me.
Isn't this just a futile race to the bottom? i'd have to actually listen to a lot of albums i know i won't like in order to do this field justice. There's even heavy competition from those artists i love. "testify", billy corgan's solo stuff, ryan adams "27", ...
