Yes, this is yet another thread with the name Radiohead in it, but before you start gouging your eyes out with the eating sticks you're using to devour that Chicken Szechuan in front of you, please note that this thread is not about Radiohead, but bands that were heavily influenced by them. Bands like Elbow, Kashmir and very arguably Coldplay. I want recs, cause I like that kind of music a lot.

Last.fm is good at working out stuff like this, by looking at what people who listen to Radiohead are also listening to.

http://www.last.fm/music/Radiohead/+similar

A band will never totally sound like Radiohead, and I kind of think if you want to listen to Radiohead: listen to Radiohead. During my Radiohead phase I also listened to a lot of Suede, I guess they're similar in that they're darker alternative brit-rock.

My gut reaction is to say, if you've run out of things to listen to, try extending outside your comfort zone, but it's always most important to enjoy the music you listen to, so take that advice as you will.

Some great albums from recent times that might appeal to a Radiohead fan:

Psychic by Darkside

Stein Urheim by Stein Urheim

Spaces by Nils Frahm

Loud City Song by Julia Holter

Perils From The Sea by Mark Kozelek &am...my Lavalle

Sisyphus by Sisyphus

LP1 by FKA Twigs

Sigh by Valentin Stip

Blank Project by Neneh Cherry

Shaking The Habitual by The Knife

ƒIN [fIN] by John Talabot

Until The Quiet Comes by Flying Lotus

Push The Sky Away by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds

Minutes of Sleep by Francis Harris

Whether or not you'll actually enjoy any of these is another thing altogether, but if one of my Radiohead-enjoying friends came to me asking for recommendations they might enjoy from the past few years, I'd point them in those directions.

Great albums, regardless how similar they are to Radiohead. Smile

That's true, I haven't done a last.fm similar artists search on Radiohead, thanks for reminding me!

Well it's been almost 5 years now, so I don't know if I would call it a "phase" Laughing
Yeah, Suede are great, and I can sort see that if you would turn up the 60's influences in early Radiohead several notches you might end up with something similar to them.

I definitely haven't run out of things to listen to, but I was thinking about going back to my "roots" in rock music listening, meaning the kind of stuff I listened to a lot when I first joined the site, and really get to the bottom with it. And that would be Radiohead type alt rock.

Myslovitz. Polish band who incorporated aspects of britpop and college rock in the beginning that ended up being veered into space rock, shoegaze, general experimentation, etc. later on. Actually was called Poland's Radiohead for a time.

I'm basically doing the exact opposite of what you're asking for, but if you admire Kid A anything like I do, you should check out some of the work that inspired it. These albums blew my mind when I first heard them not long after Kid A, and still resonate today.

Tri Repetae by Autechre

Selected Ambient Works 85-92 by Aphex Twin

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards Of Canada
