When I first joined BEA, I thought it would be a cool place to find music and share the music I love with other people, but I've noticed that a lot of members don't really have too much fun here. I've seen a lot of mean-spirited arguing in forums and on chart comments or someone makes a sarcastic remark to a forum post. I can't believe that people would rate someone's taste in music poorly; if you don't agree with someone's taste, than why bother commenting? Some aren't willing to help others find music when asked. I've seen a lot of positivity on this site but there seems to be a lot of rudeness and snobbishness. I'll probably get this negative attitude from anyone who responds to this but I just want to know if anyone feels the same way.
Snarky quips go with every media/art community in general. But it's not as toxic as you might think, people are comfortable with each others forum personalities here for the most part. But I'd like to see what really has been upsetting you in terms of comments that you are mentioning?
Also, rating somebodies chart poorly isn't a knock on them; it's just what the chart resonates with them. Everybody has a different criteria though.

Personally, I've stopped rating charts. I don't know how I'm supposed to rate them. I will leave a comment if I feel it's worth it, and I always try to make them as positive as possible. This wasn't always the case, but now I don't see the point in criticising somebody's chart. If they don't like the same albums that I do, who cares? I don't.
That said, I will still call people out on the forums if they say something I disagree strongly with. It's fun to see opposing viewpoints backed up passionately, for me at any rate. If you don't like it, I apologise. Some people advocate it, some people don't. Horses for courses, I guess. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Yeah, so would I. The comments on your chart seem very positive, ThisisaCall.
Also, this is a close community. We do bicker sometimes, but it's possible that some of what you perceive as negativity is actually just friendly banter.

I don't know, maybe it's hard for me to tell if someone is being rude or if they're just messing around, it's just sometimes when I go on the forums or read comments on the charts I get negative vibes from what some people say.

Yeah, I've noticed it more in other people charts. They either get low ratings and negative reviews if their chart leans toward one certain genre than others or it has too many critically acclaimed albums and not enough underrated ones or the other way around.

Do you know what I get negative vibes from? People saying they're getting negative vibes without actually specifying what they're getting negative from. It makes everybody think, "am I causing these negative vibes?", and subsequently stifles our collective and individual ability to feel comfortable and be ourselves. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Yeah, that happens for sure and I also find it difficult to rate or make constructive criticisms of others' tastes. Still, though, sometimes a good kick in the pants is all it takes to open up vast new tracts of listening bliss. I'm grateful for the ones I've gotten in the past from members like Skinny.

This post is a good example lol but I'm guessing you're joking.
