Just created a new facebook group called 'Bringin' Back the Mix Tape,' which encourages ten song mixes (limit two songs per artist per playlist) that you're really lovin' at the moment and you really want to share with others. It should be open to join, if you have any problems just message Keith Prosk. I'd like to hear your mixes...

I don't have a Facebook (privacy concerns), but I do LOVE making mix tapes. The way O do it, though, is a little different.

Whenever I have to get a gift for a close friend, I put together a playlist in Itunes for them, which is essentially a six-song mix tape (normally one song per artist). Unlike a burned CD, I actually have to pay for this gift, but at only makes it all the more meaningful.

I guess you are being more retro than you think. I remember making them mix tapes back in the early 80's, and I also remember that the cost for the empty tapes was not a neglectable one. A good deal of the lawn mowing money was spent there.

A few years back I made a CD for my aunt and uncle celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. It contained great songs from around that time period--their memories. While it didn't cost me much for the blank CD, plastic sleeve and customized insert and song list, I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did compiling it. (I also made myself a copy after ripping them to my HD).
