- Post subject: Anticipation Of Bob Dylan's 'Shadows in the Night'
|
Hey everyone! Just thought it'd be cool to discuss our thoughts and expectations of Dylan's new up and coming album 'Shadows in the Night', consisting entirely of Frank Sinatra covers. So far, from what critics have been saying, he has done a good job with the songs, stripping them bare of their orchestral accompaniments, and adding a more personal, atmospheric touch. Now, just to clarify, I of course haven't heard it yet. Nevertheless, the anticipation is killing me. But hey, that's just me. What do you guys think? _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.

Rolling Stone's #1 album of 2015!
After Tempest I have little to no interest in new Bob Dylan.

I'm with Jhereko, I couldn't care less. Don't get me wrong, I love Bob Dylan but with the exception of Love and Theft and Oh Mercy I haven't really enjoyed anything he has put out since Desire.

Yeah, I'm in this boat kind of, not to say that I haven't enjoyed some of his albums since then (I have a fondness for Love & Theft and Modern Times somebit), but I just don't really expect much from Dylan albums anymore, when I listen to them they just happen and then next thing I forget them, if that makes sense, they just erase themselves from my mind quickly. Odds are that when I want to listen to Dylan, 9 times out of 10 I'll put on something from the 60's/70's (Particularly Desire). _________________

Come on, you can't exactly be surprised at everybody not going crazy over a 'Bobby sings Frankie' tag.

Tempest was actually my favourite Dylan album since Desire. So yeah...I AM kind of looking forward to it. I am not even really a Sinatra fan...but I am kind of curious.

Haha, yeah, you got me there...I actually agree on going back to 'Desire' all the time - it truly is an incredible album. But I have also learned to love modern Dylan. Just his voice and his new style of music to go with it is so interesting. But yeah, I understand you guys not finding this new-coming album very intriguing - even though I still can't help but be just that. _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.

You joke, but after their 2014 chart, this really wouldn't surprise me.
I'll admit to being a little curious. Dylan is always worth a try, but like most folks here, I have low expectations.
