It's a sad day. I was really hoping to see them live before they were through. As long as he does something other than The Dead Weather I'm happy. Think i'm going to go listen to De Stijl Crying or Very sad

Yeah, this is really a tragedy, isn't it?

The White Stripes were probably the best band of the decade.

Yeah I'm inclined to agree. They managed to revive a genre, and no matter how many critics they have, you can't fault that. If this means a Raconteurs reunion I will be a happy man however.

What? noooooooo. this sucks a dick. I really thought their new one would be out this year. I mean they're right in a way saying "preserve what is beautiful and special about the band" but really hasn't he seen that the response to "The Dead Weather" and "The Raconteurs" has been no where near the massive cult "The White Stripes" has become? (sigh) I too am going to listen to De Stijl. Dammit why couldn't it have been Kings Of Leon or Mumford and Sons or Cold War Kids or some other shitty rock band. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I'm sure they'll reunite in the future, they had incredible chemistry. Very sad news though, and I agree that they were the best band of the decade Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

The day Kings Of Leon break up will be a glorious one. I've been waiting for 3 years for a new one, and I was sure this would be the year. If anything, if Jack releases a solo album, Meg's contributions were likely minimal and it might be a de facto new White Stripes album of sorts.
