It's going to be a close thing for me anyway, the records I don't know (Saul Williams' s/t for '04; Ought and Ben Frost for '14) will decide this if I get around to listening to them.

That Ought record is one of my favourite indie rock albums of the past few years, and I love Perfect Hair and Winter's Diary 2, but I found Enter! to be pretty disappointing after the incendiary Exit!, and Ben Frost maximalist drone stylings don't do a lot for me. Not massively fussed about that singles selection either - lots of meh. That said, there's probably enough there to get my vote against the excellent The College Dropout, the very good Smile, and 'Drop It Likes It's Hot' and 'Bucky Done Gun'. Will relisten to that Williams album if I get time, but I've never been a fan. Probably gonna go 2014. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Hmm, nothing too earth-shattering on either team but both pretty strong & consistent nonetheless. 2014 is indeed the candidate for albums I all like but don't really love, Aurora is probaby the stand out and Busdriver and Ought's releases are also quite fine. Enter! was dissapointing but far from without any merit. Singles team though is terrific. 2004 has my favorite album across the board in Blueberry Boat, and I think I do prefer that and the Smile/CollegeDropout/Trouble combination to the 2014 albums. Haven't heard Tink or Saul Williams. Singles team for 04 isn't quite as strong (mainly perhaps for hte inclusion of hte unbearable All These Things, rest is quite strong, esp Bucky Done Gun), but not really changing the weight of things too much. Leaning 2004, perhaps a bit of a unfair spite towards 14 for excluding Perfume Genius everywhere (srs??), though I guess I could say the same about Feist making no appereance for 2004. Aye, no time to get petty. Leaning 04 on albums and 14 on singles, will maybe do some more listening esp to what I haven't heard to decide.
