- Post subject: A way of discovering music to your taste, and helps charity
|
Charity shops nearly always have CD racks full of boy bands that have gone out of fashion and easy listening drudge. However there are usually a few decent albums in amongst the rubbish. Occasionally someone with decent taste drops off a job lot, you can tell because in with a bunch of albums you like, but already own, there will be some you have never heard of, these are the ones to buy. They will only be a quid or two, and the chances are they'll be to your taste; if not just donate them back, you will have given to charity with the bonus of the possibility of finding your latest favourite thing.

This is how I found Keane way back when, actually, Hopes and Fears for a buck.

And this is how I found a variety of things I love but Paper Sons was probably my best find. Rasputin's 50 cent CDs coming in clutch _________________

wait, supporting what.cd doesn't count as supporting charity?
it's really illegal for me to claim tax exemptions on donations to a private tracker?
fuuuuuck meeeeee
in all seriousness, the only time i ever tried this, i bought a cassette of '40s and '50s red-baiting country music incl. the immortal "Ain't I Right," and it's all really really good.

This is the only reasons I frequent thrift shops and garage sales (those aren't for charity but you can find some gems). Got a few original Hendrix and Floyd records that way _________________ "If I could just leave my body for a night.... FJSDKFJKAJFKFJKDSFDKSJF"
