5. Heroes
6. Diamond Dogs
7. Space Oddity
8. Station to Station

I have not listened the other albums fully yet, only singles out of each so I can't put judgements on them yet. But these are my favs for now.

Because I'm a terrible human being:

1. For the songs: I love the I'm afraid of Americans song.

Best Of Bowie by David Bowie

2. For the bass work/standard rock record:

The Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie

Although I will say that this last time I listened to Ziggy Stardust, I finally maybe kind of connected with it and saw the genius to it and saw the album quality was quite good.

I feel David Bowie is totally a songs guy (for me and my opinion). Of course he's like one of the greatest song writers of all time. And of course he has critically acclaimed albums. But I also have this problem with Bob Dylan... I think he didn't care if people liked his music... he was just a prolific writer and true artists and things came out "agreeable" and some things not so much, and there's no need to not publish the less agreeable things... like a true artist. So I respect that.

There was definitely a lengthy thread about this that was active a few months ago. If only the forums had a search function...

hehehe... or a function that said somebody has already posted this, do you want to post anyway. I guess in fairness, sometimes we get excited or are simply new.

Which I believe the OP was posted by someone new, so let's give 'em a chance?

No snark, I genuinely didn't realize that there was a forum search. Embarassed Embarassed Maybe because I always go straight to the index and there's no direct link to the search on that page

Does anyone have recommendations for other good Bowie albums? I know that Low, Station to Station, and Heroes are well liked.

As a non-bowie fan (I mean I'm not saying I dislike him, I just am not a fan) I seriously liked the ones I posted about. I liked how all the songs played nice together, etc on The Man Who Sold The World. And I'm serious about the best of too... it has some stuff on it that I would have never found (I'm probably never going to listen to his whole discography) that's great! Maybe from there you can find out if you like the album it comes from.
