so a year ago, i am in my car, and i'm yearning for this album. it's one of my all time favorites, and i remembering buying it when i was 14 or so, and i love the living daylights out of it. so i dig through my cd wallet, and it's not there. hm. must be in one of my largest cd wallets at home.
i get home, and check 'em both. nada. i check the other two smaller cd wallets. no dice. NO DICE.
i'm getting anxious. i did buy that album, right? yes. definitely. i listened to it on my old pocket cd player thing that'd skip if i walked too fast or did the jumping jacks. i totally have this album.
that old cd player! if i can find that in these old boxes of craola-needs-to-donate-this-stuff-to-charity, then i'll find my cd! first box is null. well, no cd player anyway. next box, etc. on down the line.
where. the. hell. did. i. put. that. bloody*. thing. ??
i check my stereo. nope. i check my wife's car. nothing. i stop by my parents' house over the weekend and check their stereos, cars, etc. it's friggin nowhere to be found.
i've searched dvd cases, cd cases, disc drives and i friggin can't find it.
did i lend it to someone? i text the people who come to mind (j.a., b.l., j.b., n.b., j.l., a.h., a.p., and whoever else came to mind). it's not like i shared music with that many people.
did i leave it in an ex-girlfriend's car back in the uni-days? did i donate it in an old stereo cd player thing? did a roommate lift it? did a family member lift it? i don't even know anymore, but over the last year, i've searched everywhere. it's gone.
i'm sure that if i buy a new copy of it, i'll find the old one. it'll just turn up. it always plays out that way. cruel. bitter. fate stuff. my sister will call, and she'll say, "hey, i found your ______ cd in an old box of mine. mom must've dumped it there not knowing better. do you want it back?" or some-odd loose-end of that nature.
i'm turning the mic over now. what's your album you've misplaced, how long have you been searching and how exhaustive has the search been?
*my blood - not someone else's. i did cut my left arm pretty bad when i was younger (needed stitches and everything) while listening to music, and i did bleed on my ol' portable cd player. discman. what the hell did we call those? _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
My mom used to own Madonna's Ray of Light, but we couldn't find her copy of it, no matter how hard we looked, so I ended up just purchasing it on iTunes.

YOUR MOM LEFT IT AT MY PLACE (back in my uni days)! _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
Well, i THOUGHT i had misplaced them, but actually i had THROWN THEM OUT. I had a 5-disc CD player that took a shit, so i pulled an old one that i had out of the closet, and put the broken one away. And eventually i threw it out. And for about a year there were 4 CDs I thought i just mislaid somewhere. But they never turned up anywhere. Then one day I realized that they were in the CD player that i threw out in the garbage. I was so fucking mad.
But here's a missing CD story with a happy ending. Ever since the late 2000s I couldn't find my copy of Travelogue by Joni Mitchell. And it's real nice, it comes in a box with a real nice booklet and shit. And then about a year ago my friend told me that she had it because she had borrowed it. So that story had a happy ending.
KMFDM! I betcha you left that in your mom's car by accident, and she went ballistic. WHY THE HELL MY LITTLE BOY LISTENING TO DEVIL'S MUSIC!?!?!?
she took it to your great-grandfather's grave and burned it to ashes right there by the tombstone. good news is you know where it is. bad news is it don't make no difference. you ain't never getting any music outta that no more.
for real though, KMFDM is lit. i made the mistake of showing my dad one of their albums once..... not to be repeated or advised. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Lmao. Nah, it could be i got rid of it and dont remember. Sometimes i trade things in and then forget. But i dont think so, because kmfdm CDs are very very special. They all have matching artwork that's kind of like a series. And I always wanted to collect them all, sometimes just for the covers. Although I like the music too. But when you put all the artwork together from all the different CDs, it's kind of like a set of playing cards. Like a matching set. so I don't think I would have traded that away. They're like kind of special to me because of the artwork
