I saw Macbeth once and i thought it was kind of touch and go. Did you ever hear of one called Falstaff? it was another Shakespeare one that I rented about 20 years ago which was so confusing that I didn't know what the fuck was going on half the time.

Re: Macbeth ... yes, a strange, fascinating film that is very visually inventive. Made on a shoestring budget, but totally inspired.
Re: Falstaff ... Listed above as "Chimes at Midnight" (full title is "Falstaff: Chimes at Midnight") ... I can understand that. It moves fast, with little time for measured exposition, with a theatrical, almost musical sense of collective spontaneity to its characters and conversational relay between them -- with a pace and fluidity that reminds me of a cinematic rendition of Mozart or Haydn's most exuberant compositions. It deserves to seen again, especially if what you saw it on 20 years ago was a low-quality transfer (most likely). The acting is exceptional, the sense of movement and the visuals are stunning if seen in the proper version. _________________ Best Classical Best Films Best Paintings
