What do people think the most overrated songs ever are?
After seeing a recent Q magazine list of greatest songs ever, I could not figure out how "Live Forever" was voted the best ever song. Its not even the best Oasis song. The lyrics are a joke, they sound like they were written by a 12 year-old: "Maybe I dont really want to know / How your garden grows / I just want to fly / Lately did you ever feel the pain / In the morning rain..." I could do way better myself!
So my top ten of most overrated songs ever are as follows:

8. Madonna - Like a Prayer
7. AC/DC - Back in Black
6. Oasis - Dont Look Back In Anger
5. The Beatles - Taxman
4. The Beatles - Yellow Submarine

2. Robbie Williams - Angels
1. Oasis - Live Forever
good shout with Taxman, a song I don't like much. Also, I don't rate Oasis at all, so for me their whole repertoire is over-rated. I find Paranoid Android by Radiohead to be overrated but I'm probably in the minority here. I happen to like God Only Knows so I'll disagree on that one on your list.
Oasis are something of a guilty pleasure for me. I like them and consider them a good band, at their best really exciting and charismatic. But I'm almost embarressed to admit it because I don't want to be grouped with their uber devotees who consider them one of the greatest band in history.
Bohemian Rhapsody and Imagine are overated for me, they're both good songs but their presence in the top 10 of so many best songs lists irritates me no end. _________________ "Its so easy to laugh, its so easy to hate. It takes guts to be gentle and kind"
