I don't get too excited watching live music since most musicians today are average or below average.

But I would like to inform the members of an amazing guitarist Gay Clark Jr. that I watched at the Ottawa Blues Festival.

He's been around but I never had the chance to see him. Mainly because I work for a living and have to pay taxes to this criminal gov't- that's another topic for another day.

This guy was unbelievable. His band was tight, amazing sounds, laid back attitude, good volume.
Grand slam home run!
This guy is the real deal.

At the moment, I don't have any of his music.
After this weekend, that's going to all change.

Yeah Gary's one of the greatest guitarists today, but the only downside is that he's not the best at writing. While it's fun to watch live videos of him, his studio work just isn't that interesting. That's just my opinion though.

Very good live album for those not lucky enough:
I more or less agree with the studio stuff. This album is pretty good if I remember though. Blak and Blu seemed like it tried to do too many things.

Totally agree. Hopefully he can hone that part of the craft.

Truth. 🤣

Sometimes you gotta translate/take the other with a grain of salt/give the benefit of the doubt, no?

Or murder. Yeah - murder should actually be the first reaction.

But that sentence could be translated into something like - hmmm, the last 7 concerts out of 10 concerts (most) I've been to were more or less glorified karaoke or an artist who really could just be playing at the local pub but somehow got signed (average/amateur).

Hahah something like that. Probably the good ones are so good that they push the average higher so the most are below that level

I got that live album as well. Great stuff there. I get the feeling this is one of those artists far better live than in studio. Would love to see him in person.
