Is this your take on what you would say the absolute greatest albums are? Or is this a list of your favorites? _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

For the most part, it looks like BEA's overall Top 200 in a different order. So it's very good, but lacking personality. By the way, every day somebody's personal chart is randomly selected in a Chart of the Day thread. But other than that, the forums are for topics/discussions, not broadcasting your personal list.
Speaking of Chart of the Day, quadrophenia17 has a very good list. I think you'll like it. _________________ on such a winter's day

This is why I asked. I see some choices that aren't in our top 100-200 closer to the top which is cool, but most of it looks like BEA top 100 choices. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

It also doesn't show the last 103 albums which I am a bit annoyed about. I did base it loosely on the BEA list, combined with other lists. It was meant to be an objective "GOAT" list, not my personal favorites. I haven't yet reached the number of points required to expand my list past 40 albums, so I figured I might as well find a loophole in the system 😉 I saw quadrophenia17's list and it was great, especially the high placement of Miles Davis' In A Silent Way, which is my favorite of his records.

I'd much rather see your favorites. They're probably a lot more interesting to read through. There's no such thing as an objective GOAT album imo. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM

Even though obviously I prefer seeing people's favorites, there's nothing wrong with throwing your thoughts in the hat of what the greatest albums are. I've thought of making a more structured, studied list on what I think are the best albums I've ever heard rather than just my favorites (although there would certainly be some overlap for me).
Does it really mean anything to put a GOAT list out of albums? Nah, but it can be equally as fun and thought provoking. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between "Greatest" and "Favorite"? What does it mean when they're different from each other? What does an album have, exactly, if you can say of it, "It's a great album, but I don't like it"?
