  • Post subject: What's the best theme song from a TV show???
I used to watch a lot of cable channels like TV Land and Retro, so I learned all the theme songs from the old TV shows, and I noticed that the theme songs from old TV shows were so much better than the new ones. I can't even think of the last time a TV theme song was a hit. Maybe the theme from Friends by the Rembrandts. Or Boss of Me from Malcolm in the Middle. So most of my favorites are really old. Here's my top ones.

Theme from The Beverly Hillbillies...by Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs
Hawaii Five-O.... by the Ventures
Bad Boys (Theme from Cops)....by Inner Circle
Boss of Me.... by They Might Be Giants
Secret Agent Man...by Johnny Rivers
Mission Impossible....by Lalo Schifrin
Theme from The Jeffersons -Movin On Up
Batman....by The Marketts
I Dream of Jeannie....by Hugo Montenegro
Peter Gunn...by Duane Eddy
Petticoat Junction....by Curt Massey

I thought of some more good ones, but some I don't know who did them.

Big Bang Theory.... Barenaked Ladies
The Brady Bunch
The Addams Family
Alfred Hitchcock Hour
Rockford Files... Mike Post
The Flintstones
Mary Tyler Moore

By a country mile it's this. No good for anyone under 40 who isn't from the UK who won't know it but it's one of my favourite bits of music. The piece has a backstory too and I don't think it's ever been released but the full version is on YouTube

I never heard that before. What type of show was that?
I know two good British ones from British shows that are STILL on American TV. They've been on for as long as I can remember.

Dr. Who Theme
The Avengers
Jimmy Dread
Old skool like Happy Shopper

Good shout on World In Action. Personally (and with my nostalgic specs on recalling the halcyon days of kids TV as a pre-teen) either of these would be right up there (the first one still sends shivers down my spine):

But the winner for me has got to be...

Now if you're talking a theme that wasn't written specifically for the purpose this would be a strong contender:

This just makes me laugh because of that one Seinfeld scene Laughing Good tune though.

There aren't a lot that stick out to me, but I like:

Breaking Bad theme
Scrubs - Superman (Lazlo Bain)
Shameless (US) - can't recall the name, but its good.
At Least It Was Here - The 88 (Community)

Game of Thrones has a great theme too, though I dislike the show itself.
