I’ve already listened to Mirror Reaper and have relistened to microtonal. The Mirror Reaper album is actually not bad and very athmospheric but it can’t keep my attention for a full
Album while microtonal is just fantastic an already in my top chart of the year so that one wins.

This is a tough one for me. I really want to like Mirror Reaper. First off, that cover is amazing. I've also been into some pretty slow, heavy doom lately so you'd think this would hit the spot. Unfortunately, after a couple listens I've found it an intriguing album that leaves me feeling a bit empty. I'm not adverse to super slow doom - I really like Warning's Watching From a Distance which is by no means as slow as this but is just as, if not more (likely more), repetitive. But the thing for me is that Warning and another band I've been into lately, Reverend Bizarre, offer a really heavy, hard-hitting version of doom while Mirror Reaper is a lot more sparse and atmospheric. Which I get is the point, but when I listen to it I can't help but wish there was more going on. I plan on giving it one more try; so far I've only listened while doing other things so this time I'll try just laying in bed with the music on.
The thing that makes this match-up tricky is that I like, but don't love, Banana. It's by far my favorite King Gizzard album and has some really inventive sounds but it's not an album I would ever obsess about. Whereas I'm sure that if Mirror Reaper clicked I would be obsessed. I'll vote on this one after my next Bell Witch listen. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.

Flying Microtonal Banana is a great psych workout that never overstays its welcome. Mirror Reaper is a very interesting metal album that is too long (two CDs worth of material) and similar-sounding (at least within each of the two disparate halves). _________________ Join us in the canon game / Add me on RYM

Microtonal all the way.
Really cool concept musically for a "rock band".

It's really hard for me to stay still for an hour and a half, but the album's artistic vision pulled through. I'm no stranger to long tracks on albums, Post-Rock and Ambient being 2 of my favorite genres) so this eventually ingratiated itself to me. King Gizzard is great, but Polygondwanaland actually ended up being my favorite from last year.

Oh man!...I was over halfway through the song/album via spotify when my phone froze and I had to restart the phone and the album. That made it a long listen. It was okay though, just not enough variety to get me back. And I'm a Gizzhead. They are my favourite current band, I've seen them live six times now, and all five of their 2017 albums are in my yearly chart with Microtonal at #2 (Nuclear Fusion, Open Water, Rattlesnake, Sleep Drifter are all such great songs) so I was stoked to see it nominated and I can tell you now I will be voting for this over everything except my nomination, which won't make it to the next round anyway

Both bands have been better. Vote to the Jizzard Kizzards though. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
