As for release dates, many times I have stumbled upon albums with missing release dates (popular ones even!) that don't show up in this list: https://www.besteveralbums.com/added_al...;username=

Is there any way to get a list of all albums released after 2004 without release dates?

As far as I'm aware, the link you posted contains every album on the site with a missing release date. Which albums in particular are missing dates that aren't on that list?

Unfortunately, it doesn't. Here are some examples that weren't on the list. I fixed these in June as soon as I noticed:

Is there any way to get a list of all albums released after 2004 without release dates?

Those albums (there are currently 4141 of them) are added to the Need Release date queue on an ongoing basis. I believe the reason for that was to keep the queue from being really huge (that was when there were over 10,000 of them. 4000+ is still a lot. The Show All queue has only the 1000 latest albums added, and it's 50 pages long.)

You can always, of course, add the full dates as you come across them. Every little bit helps!

How are they added? Automatically? Manually up to a certain number? I do add a missing date every time I notice it.

I am sure that they are added automatically. I'm not sure how many are added at a time...I think it depends on how many are still in the queue at the time. I'm pretty sure it's updated daily. I know AM can fill in the blanks that I'm not positive about.

Romanelli is pretty much spot on. There's currently approx 4,000 albums without a release date (at one point approx 20,000 albums). Albums are automatically flagged a few times each day in batches depending on how big the moderation queue is e.g. if the moderation queue is short, more albums can be flagged as having no release date (up to a maximum of 60~). This is to prevent flooding the system.

Have been working on filling in missing dates whenever possible. If the backlog gets eliminated, is there any chance of extending the release date feature further into the past, one year at a time?

Also, it would be cool if at the end of the album anniversary blurb there were a "more" link that went to a page showing all the album anniversaries of the day.

2004 was arbitrarily chosen because the site was launched in 2005 and it made sense at the time just to go back as far as that. Processing albums in small batches also made sense as it felt a bit more achievable to process in chunks rather than have a big avalanche to get through. As a matter of fact, well over half of the albums in the BEA database are released after 2000 so we've already processed a hefty chunk of the database, and once we've completed up to 2004, I think it would then make sense to attempt to back-fill the rest of the database (in the same way that we are now). and make the release date a required field for all albums regardless of release date.

Yes, a link to albums sharing the same birthday would be useful. I'll add this to the to-do list and try and get that done.

Sounds good. However, once you go back far enough, specific release dates become impossible to track down for most albums, and even year becomes difficult to confirm. This is why I think it might more sense to work back gradually until we reach the year where filling in the info becomes a big problem.
