Cover Versions!

It struck me the other day that cover versions or as I'd prefer to call them, re-interpretations, are much meligned. "Not as good as the original" or "what were they thinking" are comments you often here but I think that some re-interpretations are better than the original & some artists are masters of the art.

I put forward Johnny Cash's version of NIN's Hurt as a perfect example. Love the original but JC's version always makes me cry. His version of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage is also awesome.

What / who would be your candidates or are re-interpretations a non starter?

Well would you believe it, someone else with a similar thought. Good choice on the Banshees track.
