An album dismissed by Gilmour & Waters. Understandably; it's uneven but thankfully they got back on track w/ Meddle.

This has long been my favorite Pink Floyd album. "Summer '68" is one of my all time favorite songs, and the 2 medleys/suites that bookend the album are Pink Floyd at their best. As far as the longer Floyd songs go, I know many prefer "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" or any of the tracks from Animals, but the 2 on Atom Heart Mother do more for me than those on later albums ever could. Plus Atom Heart Mother set the stage for everything to come from Pink Floyd for the next decade or so. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

I was pretty blown away the first time listening to the title track. I love it a lot, I find it an early triumph. While not as cleanly perhaps as Echoes to come, it leads off this ever so pleasantly strange record in fantastic fashion. Though I will say, I agree with a previous mention that the record as a whole is a tad uneven.
Overall, for me, this is where one of music’s most remarkable runs begins. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.
