I just saw a strain of disappointment with Radiohead's King of Limbs. I too had a hard time appreciating it at first. I felt two things- There was a bunch of B-side material from early days that was reworked. Codex was just Pyramid Song all over again, but I agree Codex is better. Feral has got to be the worst song ever written. That song felt like the old days of CD's skipping.
This was my facebook post the week it released:
Radiohead: King of Limbs. Mixed feelings. Bloom: not great- bass saves it. Morning Mr Magpie- ok to good. Little by Little- could grow on me. Feral: worst song ever- sounds like a combination of a track skipping on a CD and two songs playing at the same time over each other (fine line between cool and crap). Give up the Ghost: Absolutely Gorgeous. Seperator: Good- Guitar melody at the end is to die for.

feral, bloom, lotus flower, and seperator are magnificent. little by little is kind of bad _________________ "I would expect something wrong with the poll if the chart favorite was not the poll winner" - naples 12-8-11

I liked it from the beginning, especially the second half. The first half (minus Bloom) I had more trouble with, but I can say I don't mind any of them now, and I actually really like Morning Mr Magpie, which I didn't initially. So yeah I guess it has kinda grown on me, but I really never found it a disappointment. It's not a "classic" in the way their best albums are, but it's a very good album nonetheless.

It's not an avant garde album or with some weird stuff that needs any time to be appreciated. An average album, which will remain average 1 year later, 2years later, a decade from now...
I still think that it was a kind of joke by radiohead. And of course even a genious's joke is still listenable.
P.S : radiohead is my 2nd favorite band of all time, and I have 6 of their records in my chart.
