When you're adding an artist that lives in a different country than he or she was born in, do you use their birth country or the country they currently live in?

Edit: I also have another question. Who would be the artist for this release and the others like it?

https://music.apple.com/us/album/sweet-...1781332598

Apple Music has the artist listed as just "Gaither", but that doesn't seem right to me. They used to be called "The Gaither Homecoming Friends".

The album would normally be assigned using the spelling that is printed on the artwork/label. If an artist changes their name, their old albums continue to be listed under the old name while new albums are listed under their current name (if there are multiple variations these will all be linked together). Looking at the artwork, this one would probably be Bill & Gloria Gaither and Their Homecoming Friends. Nationality for an individual is primarily based on where an artist is born and raised.

Now I have a question about adding an album. This album is called "Far Away Places 1957". The release date says 2015. I'm not sure if that means this is a reissue of an album from 1957 or just an album of songs from 1957. Do you know?

First of all...and again. You are not going to get accurate date information from Apple Music, or any of the other streaming services. They do not care about correct release dates.

A simple Google search of "lloyd green far away places 1957" will give you the answers. Please do the research: part of adding albums to BEA is making sure yourself that you are adding accurate and complete information. It's up to you to find out if the album was released 60 plus years ago or 10 years ago. If you aren't sure and want to add the album, you can leave the information blank and someone will find out and fill in the blanks...and get credit for doing the work. It's not exactly fair for you to ask for the answers here, have someone else do the research for you, and then you get credit for it with the admin points.

Actually, I already did the search. I didn't find an answer to my question. That's why I asked. Also, points are really no big deal to me. I'm not doing this just to get points.

Other people most certainly DO care about points. It's not all about you. If someone else is doing your research for you, then THEY deserve the points.

Okay.

Try the search again. You will answer a lot of your own questions if you utilize sites that are about albums, like Discogs, RYM, All Music, MusicBrainz. These sites are about albums, and not so much about streaming individual songs. I understand that a lot of the albums you add (Christian music) are not routinely added to those sites, but it's good to have them available for questions like this one, If you look up the album on Discogs (third on the list on your Google search), your first question will be immediately answered: 3 lines below the album title at the top of the page, the album is shown as a compilation. Two lines below that, the year 2017 is shown. This is most likely NOT correct, because on your search screen, other sites show different years. So go back and update your Google search to "lloyd green far away places 1957 release date". Your answer will be in large letters at the very top of your search.

Also. When you add album cover art, the pictures you use are many times not in focus (probably because of the size), and they have rounded edges instead of sharp corners. These many times end up having to be replaced. My guess is that you are using Apple Music photos from their album page, as those pictures also have rounded edges. I would recommend that if the album is available on either Discogs or MusicBrainz, try using a large (not small) photo from there. If not, when you are adding an album, there is a link on the BEA moderation page to search Google for image (it says Google Images). Click that, then change the size from Large to Any Size. In the search bar, if you want to use the Apple Music photo, add Apple Music after the word flickr (don't erase the rest of the text). If Apple Music has the photo, click on it once. It will then pop up on the right of the screen. If the picture shows between 500 x 500 and 1200 x 1200, and is in .jpg form, then right click and save (save image) that picture to a file on your computer. Go back to the album and click Choose File. Find the folder you saved the pic to, open it, and double click the pic. That should add it to the album. Other good options for photos are Spotify and Amazon, but watch the photo sizes.

Hope you find this helpful.

I was not saying it was all about me. I was saying the opposite. I was saying that I am fine with someone else getting points if they fill in some of the information for a release I add.
Many times, the release dates on Apple Music and Spotify are accurate. Not always, but most of the time. Thanks for your response. I'll try it.

Ben Dodson's Apple Music Artwork Finder is great for finding 3000x3000 or at least 1400x1400 resolution album covers, but first you gotta check in Discogs if Apple Music has the album cover of the very first release (This case usually happens with much older releases).

The bigger the better, but artwork is compressed to about 500x500 pixels on BEA as otherwise it can make pages too big to download (especially on mobile and with more than one album on a page). Square corners are also preferred as it makes the layout more consistent.
