"A very sad album, but a good listen. He clearly knows he hasn't much time left with some of his song choices - In My Life, We'll Meet Again etc. His voice is clearly going in some of the tracks - In My Life is sung out of tune. Hurt for me is the stand-out track. Very poignant."

"I wouldn't call anything here "very poor." Some songs are better than others, but none of them are bad. Great album, anyway. The "Hurt" video brought tears to my eyes when I first saw it, and the album as a whole has a similar vibe. You can tell he knew it would probably be his last, and wanted to make the last one he put out if not his best, as good as any of his previous albums."

More than 20 years later, I still find it amazing how Cash was able to version so many songs so effectively, to the point to make them his own. The selection of songs and the theme of the album makes it one of the best epitaphs ever written and recorded.

Totally agree with that. Hurt is an obvious puck as a great cover but personal Jesus amd desperado are particular favourites of mine. An all time great
"The Man Comes Around" is, for me, by far the best track on this album. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold
