"A minority opinion, but I think Pavement got better with each of their first three albums, culminating with this masterpiece. So much to love here, most notably at the beginning and the end. "Father to a Sister to a Thought" is brilliant too. A very '90s record."

"An inconsistent bag of songs that ,with trimming down, could be competing amongst the best of all time. There is so much potential on this album such as great songs like We Dance, Grounded, Father To A Sister Of Thought and many more. All of these have fantastic and unique instrumentation blended with a great vocal and lyrical combo to create 3 or 4 minutes of pure musical entertainment. If the album was 9 or 10 tracks long then it would be so infectious that it would be hard not to be constantly drawn back to this record. However, it is those 8 or 9 filler tracks that let the album down by being a bit too weak and dull. They seem really off tempo on these songs and really slow down the experience almost to a point where I am a little bored. The record also slows down in terms of quality nearer the end of the album with most of the weaker cuts being around there. With that being said, I do get drawn back to this album a lot and some of the songs on here are some of my favourite Pavement tracks. Overall, an album with so much potential which is let down by the weaker moments but it has made me excited to do a deeper dive on their other music as this was quite enjoyable."
