A New Day Yesterday

Nice Creamesque intro which is really great. This track would not have been out of place on Disraeli Gears with its heavy blues feel.

Martin Barre was such a great blues rock guitarist but failed to get the recognition that I think he deserved although amongst guitarists themselves, he is highly regarded.
Great way to start the album.

Early JB cover which is seriously good

Jeffrey Goes to Leicester Square

More folk rock than heavy or progressive rock with Ian moving to the front on this one.

Iโ€™m not a great fan of folk rock to be honest but this is OK. Great musicianship.

Bourรฉe" (Instrumental)

Exceptional musicianship on this jazz / rock / prog track and it must be one of the most famous instrumental tracks by Jethro Tull. I love the classical / prog crossover. Not the only time that prog bands did this, ELPโ€™s Fanfare for the Common Man, is another obvious example.

This feels to me the start of the iconic flute driven Tull sound. You also canโ€™t ignore the bass solo from Glenn Cornick. One of the great classic rock bass sections ever
I really like it especially once it moves into rockier realms. Itโ€™s great.

Back to the Family

Rather too folky for me however, I like "the dynamic tempo shifts, blending bluesy folk rock with heavier electric guitar riffs by Martin", as I saw it described which is pretty accurate.

Overall, a decent track but not outstanding
