I remember, sometime in the mid 80s, when she was in the height of her career, she used to have this "rivalry" with Madonna. So, in an interview she declared "If my kids turn out like Madonna, I'll drown them".
And if you were around during those days, you'll remember that while Madonna was the wild, party, sexed up girl, Whitney was the sweet, clean-cut girl, your mother would like you to date.
And then... she met Bobby Brown. And her life got turned upside down. Drugs, domestic violence, the end of a bright career, more drugs...
Whenever I was reading something about her on the news I'd often think that when she was saying those things about Madonna, she could have never imagined that her life would go on the absolute other side. I have many times wondered whether she has said to herself "I'd give everything for my daughter to turn out like Madonna, and not like me"
Her life story goes to show how a wrong decision can destroy you for ever.
I know people will say that every person is responsible for their own decisions. And that is true. But what is also true is that some people are weaker than others and they get carried away by others. And if the meet the right guy/girl, they can become better with them. Instead if they meet the wrong guy (like Whitney did)...
