Terrific album. Still, Steely Dan albums that are better than this one:

Pretzel Logic
Countdown to Ecstasy
Katy Lied

Nevertheless, this is a wonderful album. Peg and Deacon Blues are my personal favorites.

"Peg" is awesome!!!!! Steely Dan albums are consistantly quality works. There's not a single sound out of place.

Originally picked up this album when I heard it compared to NIN's The Fragile. Man, was I disappointed.

How is this any different than Jimmy Buffet?

Steely Dan are decent but I've never managed to really get into it. All their albums, including this one, come across as a hybrid between soft jazz rock and elevator music. I think I owe them some more chances though.
