Indie bands named after wildlife

What is with this meme? Why are there so many indie bands named after wildlife? So, it's kind of nothing new (the Eagles, the Beatles, etc.) but still... it seems to me like if you want to be big in indie you gotta go with the wildlife theme.

Let me start at list... and help me out.

Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Band of Horses (to me that sounds like wild horses), Wolf Parade, Modest Mouse, Deerhunter, Deerhoof, Panda Bear....

Animal Collective, Arctic Monkeys, Bear in Heaven, Caribou, Cat Power, The Mountain Goats, Wild Beasts.

i think that's easier to remember a band's name when there's a reference to an animal.

These bands just caught on to the general rule of band naming. It is:

- Bands named after animals are good.
- Bands named after geographic locations are bad.

There are exceptions of course, but it was a decently valid one until all them indie bands realized how it works.

I shall not defend against anecdotal evidence trying to negate this thesis!
