So I have been of the impression that for an album to be good, the whole album has to be good. Maybe I am wrong, but it feels like some don't feel that way. A top 10 album could have a song are two that are crap, but if the rest has some of their fav stuff, they can still considerate top 10 material.

So here we go, does a Best Ever Album have to be a holistic, pure, amazing experience from beginning to end, or can it not flow, and have a few bad songs?

another way to look at this question... do you skip songs when listening to your favorite album... is it ok to skip songs... does that make the album less awesome?or is the album an art form that needs to be respected?

If an artist doesn't respect that art form... are they crap?

Ratings are subjective. Just post the albums you like most. Define your rubric for rating however you like.

These are questions for discussion, not for me to know what to do... I don't ask people how I should think...

But was curious what the "general forums" population thinks.

Skip the songs you dislike it doesn't make the album worst if you don't hear them.

skipping the songs you don't like doesn't make the album better if you don't hear them? The album still isn't good?

I think a Top10 album shouldn't have one or two crap songs- if there are 2-3 crap songs on it (songs I really don't listen to and I skip), but the rest is great stuff, then it isn't a Top10 album,I would give them only 4 or 4.5 out of 5.
I think if there is a superb/brilliant/perfect album, it means that there are no crap songs on it, otherwise it would ruin the album and it wouldn't be make it to the Top10. And yes, for or me, a Top 10 album is a pure, amazing experience from the first to the last song.

it is all very subjective, but this is my opinion.

Ah could you rephrase that?

What I am saying is that if there are songs on a album you don't like then skip them, that way the listening experience is more enjoyable.
