I think it's actually harder when you're friend is not there when you need them. It is one thing to have a newfound enemy, quite another to be completely alone. I don't think anything hurts more than that. Having an enemy is actually quite invigorating and exciting. Having no one to turn to is very tough.
things are never just black and white when betrayal is concerned, but unless a friend is on a sixth month mission to Mars, it's hard to get past a time when a friend is not there for you.
yeah, i was gonna say betrayal was worse, but having thought about it - and been there on both - i reconsidered..
enemies are a strange breed.. and speaking as someone who as amassed more than his fair share, i can attest to the galvanising and invigorating experience so eloquently described by elston.. who i'm sure has a few nemeses dotted about himself!
fairweather, shoegaze friends are the worst.. you can go out drinking with them by all means and hit them up on facebook, but it's probably best to count the friends you can really trust on your thumbs.. _________________ no fat chicks
