As JMan has pointed out, I'm generally opposed to threads like this, but SWIM has taken unfortunate amounts of adderall and coffee today so SWIM can write a 15 page paper that is due monday, so I feel compelled to make this. I hope this thread hasn't been made before.. seems a bit obvious.

BQ: Who deserves to be called the Fifth Beatles? Brian Epstein? George Martin? Someone else?
BQ2: Thoughts and feelings toward Yoko Ono.
Sorry I've just been going on a bit of Beatles kick lately. I'm a little late, I know, but fuck it.

Anyway, for the original question, I think George Harrison is my overall favorite, but I really like John Lennon in the earlier days before he started doing way too many drugs and Yoko Ono sucked the fun out of him. I guess that reveals my feelings toward Yoko..

For me, it's easily Lennon. His songs strike a more personal chord with me, and I remember when I made my Beatles top 10, I think 8 of them were Lennon. RIP

Paul McCartney was the most talented of the group.

John Lennon.

He seemed like a cool guy, and he wrote Taxman, the song that got me into the Beatles(not my fav Beatles track anymore) and so he gets my vote.

As for fifth beatle, I would say Billy Preston because his work really lifted the game of the songs he was involved in.

As for Yoko, I couldn't really care less. I think with or without Yoko they would have broken up anyways, she just made the break up a bit quicker.

Yea, i'll give him that, if by talented you mean musically talented, and not lyrically.

Interesting. How are we defining talent? It's hard to say who had the most or least talent. Except for Ringo. Poor Ringo. He was the least talented. George was instrumentally the most proficient. Both Lennon and McCartney were amazing song-writers, but I do prefer Lennon's vocals. There's just a beautiful psychedelic quality to his voice.

I'm actually going to defend Ringo and say that I am a huge fan of his drumming on songs like Tomorrow Never Knows and A Day in the Life.

Ringo was an amazing drummer and anyone who says otherwise doesn't play drums.

George was always overshadowed in The Beatles, and is just the same level of songwriter as John and Paul, but it didn't show back then. As for the most important Beatle, I do have to go with John, just because I like his songs more than Paul's.

John is the most important.
Lately I've been getting more and more into Paul McCartney's Ram though, while I've always had a soft spot for All Thing Must Pass by George, both have important parts in The Beatles.
But then Ringo has made me laugh the most ๐Ÿ˜
