Hey BEA.

Now.. what has Hayden been working on the past few month? "I dunno. Probably getting drunk at underage parties, listening to amazing music and failing tests and shit".

Well. For the most part, yes. But I've also been working on a project. My new adventure called 'Who's Masquerade'.

Who's Masquerade - Who's Masquerade
www.whosmasquerade.bandcamp.com

I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone... 'singing'. This is my side project, not crazy ass avant-garde colossal bass-driven saxophone tunes. A different genre all together.

This is my latest album, Who's Masquerade. Self-titled of course. I'm nervous as fuck to release it to be honest. I've never really heard any music that's too similar to it in the genre-field... And I don't know what people will think... but I like it anyway. Swans - The Seer was a big influence... along with the Red House Painters - Down Colourful Hill. and the works of Tim Buckley & Scott Walker.

I sing all the songs 😄 And play guitar...bass.. and drums occasionally.. well, the credits are on the site.

I hope BEA enjoys what I've made 😄 And if anyone wants to help with promotion... or setting up last.fm, the bea page or rym stuff, that'd be cool 😁 Cause I'm bad at that...

And.. um... It's free if you want 😁 I have a mediafire link.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?8rl2jg9rnpau14q
But if you want to spare a couple bucks, you can also do that on bandcamp.

Thanks BEA 😄 I'd be honoured if you listen to it. Or try it out.. I won't be butthurt if you say it's not your thing or it sucks.. But I tried 😄 It's a concept album also... So I think my only request is that you listen to it all at once 😕 😄

Hope you like it,
Cheers.

I have to say I really enjoyed it. The shakey, spoken word vocals took some getting used to but after a while it started to grow on me. It really did a good job of setting the mood. I really liked the guitar work, the little imperfections gave the album a lot of character. My favourite parts were Colossal Youth Part II, Afterlove and Death's Best Friend.

I would write more but it's 12:30 at night with me and I kinda suck at writing reviews anyway but seriously, this is great.

Edit: also just a heads up, you've spelled Red House Painters wrong on the Bandcamp page.

So many emoticons!

I like your muffled voice. It has a nice sound to it. The chords and their fingering sound simple and the chord changes predictable. Not sure if you even know theory but I did like how you spanned a few different modes (mainly Phrygian and a bit of mixolydian). The dissonance of the predictable chords plays out better than I expected. Keep up what you love.

I've only been playing guitar a short while.. But I did make notes to change key signatures and modes throughout 😄 To keep it interesting anyway. I have no clue which modes are called what though 😕
