Ok let's take a look at the number of albums in our BEA top 20 from each decade :

1960's : 7
1970's : 5
1980's : 1
1990's : 4
2000's : 3
2010's : 0

Ok i know that this is really illogical and somehow a useless prediction , but i just wanted to know what do you think about our top 20 ? will we have an album from 2010's in there ?

maybe you'll say "ah it is always usual to see a top 20 full of classics" yeah but what about albums like funeral and kid a ? will the suburbs stay the album of the decade with the rank 40 ?

you know,i don't want you to predict. The reason is to see if there is still "hope" in music listeners to get something like kid A or not.

Shoot, Funeral is still climbing (as has been much discussed). Why couldn't something from this decade hit the top 20?

As you say, The Suburbs are close, and MBDTF is also in the top 100.

I think it may take a couple more years, but it'll happen, no question.

I would like to think it's possible. The overall chart is so bizarre, though. Four Beatles albums in the top 20? Four Radiohead albums? Eight albums by two bands are really better than most of the rest of recorded music? That's just madness.

This. They should all be deleted and if it's really such a big topic people wanna talk about, there should just be one Overall Chart thread.

I'm interested in the overall chart, not because it really effects my listening habits (I've heard most of the high-ranking albums anyway), but because I'm curious. I'm curious about the people that frequent this site and I'm curious about how their tastes compare to the world at large.

And I don't think this is a niche topic; in fact, it's one of the most relevant topics to the site as a whole that I can think of. It almost seems like some people get offended when their tastes don't gel with the majority, but I don't see why this should be. AM put a lot of work into making an algorithm that he thought was good aggregate of the site's visitors. I don't understand why so many people want to act as if it's irrelevant to the site. Nobody is (or, at least, nobody should be) claiming that it represents any kind of authoritative stamp of quality.

It's the same reason I care about the Rolling Stone list -- it's just another perspective on the music world.

I imagine sooner or later we will have a 2010s album in the top 20, though it may not be until the next decade when we've gained some perspective. I could see Suburbs becoming a pretty canonical classic one day, for example.

As someone with autism whose family gives thousands every year for helping the disabled, I can genuinely say that betting on the BEA overall chart is like betting on the Special Olympics.
