This is the sweetest that jazz may ever be. Coltrane’s rendition of my favorite things has stood the test of time and remained in my mind as possibly the best jazz song ever recorded. He plays his instrument like only he can, swelling and slithering along the tracks. Evoking emotion in everyone, and leaving nothing to be desired. Coltrane is one of jazz’s undeniable kings.

This album feels like it was recorded in the honest to god desert. It drones in the midsummer heat as it trudges along a path no man has taken before. These are songs of a man on the run with nowhere else to go. Lost within the desert and also lost within himself.
