Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.2/100, a mean average of 80.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

Another brilliant display from John Coltrane that reaffirms him as one of the greatest jazz musicians that has ever performed. The fact that this is his 4th or 5th best album is astonishing as it just shows how amazing he was because this album is fantastic. He steals the show on this release as well with his saxophone guiding us through the whole record with his genius solos demonstrating his mastery of the instrument. He is also backed up very strongly by all three of the other musicians. The piano is especially great as it adds an additional lead and takes control of some of the songs such as on But Not For Me. Overall, this is an essential piece of jazz music that is amongst Coltrane's greatest ever recordings.

Coltrane pretty much killed it every time he stepped into a studio. The title track is especially outstanding.

incredible album with a stunning opening and a great ending.

Coltrane não erra!! My Favorite Things é incrível! O baixo nesse álbum é um absurdo!

75/100
Best tracks: Everytime We Say Goodbye, Summertime
Worst tracks: My Favourite Things
Not one of my favourite Coltrane releases, but a great album overall!

Holy moly this album is incredible. Where has it been all my life?! I need more Coltrane, clearly.
Awesome album, thanks to the beautiful title track.

Easily one of the greatest jazz albums of all time. Mixes Coltrane's bop improvisation with classic showtunes and American standards in a way that's both nostalgic and innovative.
After the justly famous take on My Favorite Things and the gorgeous ballad that rounds out side 1, to my ears side 2 is even better, especially Summertime, which I could listen to on repeat. Not quite as good as Giant Steps or Blue Train, my two favorite albums of his, but almost.

I did not expect to fall in love with a jazz version of My Favorite Things, but here we are.
