Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Technically this is now a "Top 100 Greatest Music Albums of the Last 5 Years with an emphasis on the most recent ones" chart, but I still like it.
Love an honest chart like this.

Interesting idea for a chart, maybe something I will do with a custom chart once I get my decade and year charts more under control. I appreciate the rankings of Wildflowers and From a Basement on the Hill.

Really unique chart. Superchunk and Circa Survive are definitely underrated on the site, so it's nice to see them represented here.

I like the idea, I suppose, but it's more fitting for a custom chart than an overall, and as it stands it's a bit of a strange execution - yes, these specific releases aren't neccessarily that well praised, but there's really not an obscure band on here, like at all. I guess some people might not know Kevin Devine but after his Devinyl series he's much better known. Hell, you've got several albums on here with hundreds of ratings that appear in more than 100 charts. So sure, I guess they're not in the top 1500 on the site ... oh wait, more than 10% is ... I guess I'm just confused by the concept as a whole here.
As an 100 best underated albums chart its very good. Glad to see you give BRMC and Supergrass representative but sadly 100 is hardly enough positions.
