Actors, athletes, and others with albums
by culwin
No well-known musical artists who also happen to have later gone into acting, like J-Lo or Will Smith or even Miley Cyrus.
Maybe you didn't know these actors/actresses had their own musical albums. You might even find a few models or athletes here, too. They might have made it big in Hollywood, but they didn't make it in the music industry (except for The Hoff).

Bill Paxton is half of this New Wave band, and it's quite a good album.

Pretty cool debut album from Keanu's band. "Forgive" and "Enchanted" stand out as the best tracks for me, but it's all fairly consistent in the mid-90's alt-rock style.

Impressive debut from Juliette Lewis and her band. No covers, just rock.

Technically not a solo album (Crowe credits his backing band, which is partly his former band "30 Odd Foot Of Grunts"), but it basically is. Crowe's name is right there up front. And it's not bad. A couple tracks like "Land Of The Second Chance" and "One Good Year" are pretty good, actually. Good for him.

A lot of people don't know she made an album. Not really my thing, but still pretty good. Unlike some other actors who try music, she can sing. The Kate Bush comparisons are inescapable. I remember "Gentleman Who Fell" getting a good amount of airplay on alt radio stations at the time.

Zooey Deschanel's 2-person group. If "Quirky Retro" were a genre, this record would be near the top of it.

Folk/country isn't really my thing, but it's pretty good for the genre. And an actor's album with no covers? How refreshing.

Yeah it's not bad. Better than his co-star Robert Downey Jr's album from a few years earlier.

This is something alright. Is it good or is it bad? Yes. Billy Mumy (of "Lost in Space" fame) with Robert Haimer front this wacky band that was a Dr. Demento favorite. "Fish Heads" was famously aired a couple of times on Saturday Night Live. Other than a weird cover of "Please Please Me", these are all original songs. Think Weird Al if he only did originals and not parodies. In fact Al does play on "Gumby Jaws Lament"! Anyhow, some of these tracks are pretty good, some are funny, some are dumb, some are scary, but they are all definitely weird. Yeah!

Nichelle was a dancer/singer before she was an actress. She can actually sing, and this album is fairly good.

Got to give this chart 100 for the sheer enjoyment of realising that all of these “otherly talented people” thought that releasing an album was a great career move. Having Xena on the list just makes it perfect
