Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 90.2/100, a mean average of 89.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.3/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.6.

The lyrics are so perfect - "I know it's over, and it never really began, but in my heart it was so real" (We've all been there), "It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate, it takes strength to be gentle and kind". And the guitar complements this perfectly, especially on the chorus.
I've read a comment or two that described Radiohead as the ultimate depressed person's music. I whole-heartedly disagree. For me at least, this is the best representation of crushing loneliness and sorrow put to song. I'm simply drawn to it, over and over again. Although the days where I've felt the way the narrator felt are long past, this stirs up old feelings within me.
Eat your heart out, "There is a Light that Never Goes Out." This is the best song on the album.
The single greatest Morrissey lyric combined with a lovely composition by Marr.
Vulnerable, sincere, and heart-wrenching.
Beautiful track!
Love this song!
I am chilled by this song every time I listen to it (and that is a lot of times!)
Can't believe this song hasn't got a medal next to it. Bigmouth better than this...really?
This song is one of my canned responses when someone asks what my favorite song is. I also tend to pick it when I'm forced to sing something. This is probably the most emotional vocal Morrissey has done in his career and the arrangement Marr and co. set behind it is the perfect backdrop. Jeff Buckley did a decent cover of this song, but I don't believe that his delivery matched Morrissey's, which is surprising considering the emotional range Buckley could summon almost on a whim. As such, I have serious doubts that any band/artist could ever deliver a performance of this song that tops the original.
One of my fav tracks along with so many from this great band.
A very gorgeous song and one of their best. The lyrics I can identify with so much!!!!!
