You know, I've been really conflicted on new St. Vincent, and I think this song really encapsulates what bugs me about her last two albums: They're so obnoxiously up their own asses, so blindingly sardonic that I long for the clever turns of phrase of her first three albums. And I get that this is a matter of expectations, but I also don't know why someone with such a wry sense of humor wrote a song about a phenomenon that has been going on for decades with such a lack of imagination.

I actually like the lyrics and concept here. Not feeling the "pills pills pills" hook. There's some interesting things musically here just the hook is too distracting from anything that would give me overall net enjoyment. The last third is great though! Does it compensate for the rest of the track? A little bit.
