Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 86.8/100, a mean average of 85.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.1/100. The standard deviation for this track is 14.1.

I always thought that this song's structure (catchy riff into effects-driven psychedelic noise, then back into the riff for the conclusion) was reminiscent of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love".

This is one of the finest songs in Sonic Youth's catalog. It starts with a classic open-tuned SY opening riff, then moves into the most intense song in their catalog. The lyrics are sung so fast it sounds like he's almost trying to rap them, which only builds on the intensity. Around the middle of this song, Thurston and Lee completely unhinge and let loose, it's their time to shine as instrumentalists here; Sonic Youth had made noise on past records, but never with the ferocity, intensity, and free form style they do here. I've listened to many many different versions of this song, and I've never heard them do the same thing twice in their experimentation here. When the two are done freaking out, we have the return to the third and final verse and chorus, which is just insane. Thurston and Lee are still fucking around a little, while Kim and Steve build more and more until they burst through walls of sound right back into the song. Complete perfection.

Pretty cool song. The riff is great and I love when it comes back after the minute of feedback.

Great punk rock riff. Definitely see where they got the title of being "noise rock" from.
