Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 89.1/100, a mean average of 88.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.7.

Though not my favourite track on the album, I think it's the one that best exemplifies what I love about it. Opening with 30 seconds of beautiful, atmospheric guitar before going into some heavy, dissonant punk riffing, it builds up this very suspenseful, tense atmosphere for the next two minutes or so. Then, unexpectedly, it releases that tension by going into these gorgeous melodic M#11 chords, before quickly reverting to the previous heaviness. And that's all just the intro, before the vocals even begin! This kind of contrast between tension and beauty is really what I think makes Daydream Nation one of the best albums of the 80s.
One of the most intense vocal performances by Kim, and definitely one of their best compositions. Again it sounds like they incorporated neo-psychedelia, but this time they fused it with something much heavier (Kim said the riff was inspired by Slayer).

Love the guitars on this track, but Kim's vocals seem just a little off somehow
By far Kim Gordons most emotional vocal performance. You would think that Kim showing anything other than apathic cockiness would be out weird but it proved to be really gripping and moving.

How do you begin to describe 'Cross The Breeze other than "Holy sh*t, what was that?"
In my opinion, this is by far the best and most fully realized song on Daydream Nation. If only all of them could have been sculpted the way this one was.
Highlight track to Daydream Nation

It's actually a lot more simple than the sound of it first presents, but it's heavy and surprisingly dark. Loved it.
